Temptation Awaited Me

➵ The club promoters used to call the New York model’s apartment I was staying in almost everyday. I recall the first time I answered the phone and got to hear their “pitch.” They said something like this, “hey, what are you doing tonight? We would like to invite you to a fancy dinner at this really nice restaurant in the city. We will send over a limo to pick you up and drop you off, and after dinner there will be a party you are invited to as well.” My response was, “no, thanks. I am going to just stay in tonight. Thank you so much for your offer.” The phone went silent.

They continued to call in about every other day. I got to know one promoter fairly well because he quickly learned I was the girl that always said “no,” which was very odd to him. He really couldn’t believe I wouldn’t jump at the offer. I recall one time being on the phone with him for about an hour sharing my faith because he was so intrigued and kept asking me questions. I knew it wasn’t necessarily a sin to take them up on their offer, but I had no peace in my spirit to go, therefore, I didn’t. I knew temptation awaited me if I went, so I took the Lord’s door of escape and remained at my place. (1 Corinthians 10:13)

Too often we deny our conscience to fit in, but God is calling us to a higher standard. We drink because they are drinking. We have sex because all our peers are. We go out and party because we don’t want to be seen as “boring.” We can’t change the culture if we cave into it. We can’t be a friend of this world, while being a friend of God. (James 4:4) “Choose this day whom you will serve.” (Joshua 24:15) If my end goal is to be holy, I know this world might see me as odd, however, I am ok with that. I have one consuming desire... it’s to please my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at all costs. The Bible warns us to not conform to this world, but rather, be transformed through its Truth. When others watch your walk, let them accuse you that you have been with Jesus. Whose with me, no turning back?! ➵  #soulchaser
