Standing In The Gap

➵ Has the Lord ever put someone on your heart to pray for? Has the Holy Spirit ever pierced your spirit to intercede for someone?! I can't tell you the number of times this has happened to me. What do we do when He lays someone on our heart? Are we faithful to take time out of our busy day to pray for them or do we ignore the Spirit's gentle nudging? Part of our responsibility as followers of Jesus Christ is to be intercessors for others and pray for God's intervention in their lives. "I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found none." (Ezekiel 22:30) This is where we get the term "standing in the gap" for someone. The Holy Spirit is stirring you to act as a go-between, pleading to God on their behalf. Esther stood in the gap with prayer and fasting for her people and they were not destroyed. (Esther 8)

"Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. (Galatians 6:2) There have been times in my life where it has been so hard to pray. I couldn't find the words or had to cry in tears because nothing would come out. In those moments, we can be a voice for someone who can't find the words to say or the strength to pray because they are exhausted from the spiritual battle. We can be their voice, calling out to God for them. What an honor. What a gift to be a voice for someone who has lost theirs. We should never ignore the promptings of the Holy Spirit to pray for others because there will most likely come a day when we need someone to "stand in the gap" for us!! We would want them to pray for us and we should be willing to do the same for others. When we pray for others, we should do it with the same fiery passion that we have when we are praying for ourselves!

Lord, help us to be willing to "stand in the gap" for others whenever you desire. Help us to fight for them like we would fight for our own life. Deliver us from allowing ourselves to get distracted and forget. Help us to be Your available disciples always willing to do whatever it is that You ask of us. Help us to be ones that You can trust and that others can trust too. ➵  #soulchaser
